Oscar-winning director Ron Howard, known for his passion for true-story narratives, has helmed numerous biopics and films based on real events throughout his career, including "A Beautiful Mind," "Rush," "In the Heart of the Sea," and "Thirteen Lives." According to a recent report from Deadline, his next project, now gearing up for production, will continue this compelling trend.

Howard's upcoming film is an adaptation of the novel "Alone at Dawn," co-written by special operations veteran Dan Schilling and Lori Chapman Longfritz. The book chronicles the heroic acts of Lori's brother, Air Force Combat Controller John Chapman.

The film, also titled "Alone at Dawn," will recount a harrowing mission where Chapman, alongside a Navy SEAL team, faced a critical error during a poorly planned operation. He was left isolated on a desolate Afghan mountaintop, surrounded by overwhelming enemy forces. Ultimately, Chapman made the ultimate sacrifice to save his five remaining teammates and 18 other unknown companions.

The project is a co-production and distribution effort by Amazon and MGM, with Michael Russell Gunn penning the screenplay. Adam Driver and Anne Hathaway are confirmed to star, with Driver set to portray John Chapman.
