Shoji Gatoh's light novel series Full Metal Panic! is practically a pioneer in the Japanese light novel scene. Back in May 2023, as the series approached its 25th anniversary, Fujimi Shobo announced a sequel, Full Metal Panic! Family, kicking off a new story centered around the Sagara family's life.
Yesterday (Oct 9), the official announcement dropped for Volume 3, revealing the stunning cover art by illustrator Shikidouji, featuring none other than Teresa Testarossa. Seeing Tessa's fresh look, twenty years after the original series, has absolutely blown fans away.

Affectionately known as "Tessa," Teresa Testarossa was the commander of Mithril's West Pacific Fleet and captain of the amphibious assault submarine "Tuatha de Danaan" in the original Full Metal Panic!. Despite being only 16, Tessa, like Kaname Chidori, is a Whispered, possessing superhuman observation, insight, and analytical abilities – capable of replacing an entire team of operations officers all by herself.
Her popularity rivals even that of the main heroine, Kaname Chidori. As for her situation in the story... well, those who've read it already know, right? ?

Shikidouji, the artist for Full Metal Panic! Family, also posted, expressing excitement that Tessa finally graces the cover of Volume 3, signifying her official appearance in the story – and, of course, bringing a wave of chaos to the Sagara family.
Grown-up Tessa in the sequel sports a cheongsam, exuding mature charm. For many Tessa fans, seeing this new side of her is undoubtedly a tear-jerking moment!
Tessa, a fan-favorite from Full Metal Panic!, making her appearance in the sequel has thrilled many. Shikidouji's mature rendition of her, showcasing her growth alongside many long-time readers, is truly... *chef's kiss*!

Full Metal Panic! Family Volume 3 officially hits shelves on November 20. Fans of the series, keep an eye out to see how Tessa's return shakes things up!
