IMAX Corporation recently released a future outlook brief to investors, detailing films confirmed for IMAX releases over the next two years. The impressive slate includes the new "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" solo film, "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty," the "Superman" sequel "Superman: Legacy," the second installment of "The Batman," and "Avengers: Secret Wars," among other major blockbusters. However, the list conspicuously omitted the untitled fourth "Spider-Man" film, reportedly titled "Brand New Day," which is slated for release on July 31 next year, a detail that surprised some media outlets.

Some media outlets speculate that the untitled "Spider-Man" film, reportedly "Brand New Day," likely failed to secure an IMAX slot for next summer. Its chosen late July release window is reportedly sandwiched between Christopher Nolan's untitled mythological epic, rumored to be "The Odyssey," and Anne Hathaway's upcoming dinosaur film "Flowervale Street." Nolan's film is slated for July 17 next year, with Hathaway's project following on August 14.
Furthermore, Christopher Nolan's IMAX box office draw is consistently strong. Should IMAX extend the run of his untitled mythological epic, or even grant it an exclusive month-long window, it wouldn't surprise industry observers. Ultimately, whether the untitled "Spider-Man" film, reportedly "Brand New Day," secures an IMAX release will depend on how Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios negotiate with IMAX Corporation. A similar situation, however, recently occurred: this summer's "Jurassic World" installment, reportedly titled "Rebirth," was a rare blockbuster that failed to secure an IMAX slot. During its theatrical run, only China and Japan received an exceptional IMAX release. Now, the untitled "Spider-Man" film might be poised to repeat that history.
