This past Thursday, LEGO announced the upcoming release of a new building set celebrating the 40th anniversary of "The Goonies." The highly anticipated set features 2,912 pieces and 12 minifigures. One side of the main display depicts One-Eyed Willy's iconic pirate ship, the Inferno, while the other side showcases other memorable scenes from the film, including the underground caverns and One-Eyed Willy's treasure chamber. Priced at $329.99, the set will be available starting November 4.

To promote the new building set, LEGO enlisted Academy Award winner Ke Huy Quan, who famously played Data in "The Goonies," to star in a promotional ad. In the commercial, Quan showcases the set's intricate scenes, accessories, and various clever mechanisms. This particular LEGO set originated as a submission to the LEGO Ideas program, created by Greek 3D artist Vaggelis Ntezes. The LEGO Ideas initiative invites fans to submit their own LEGO creations, which are then voted on by the public. If a project garners 10,000 votes, LEGO considers it for official production and release.
