Nintendo announced on November 4 that its next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2, launched in June this year, has seen robust sales, with global cumulative sales officially exceeding 10.36 million units. On the same day, the company also revised upward its full-year earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2026. Revenue is now projected to reach ¥2.25 trillion (up from the initial forecast of ¥1.9 trillion), marking the first time in Nintendo's history that revenue is expected to surpass the ¥2 trillion mark.

According to their second-quarter (interim) financial results for the fiscal year ending March 2026, "During this accounting period (April to September 2025), the Nintendo Switch 2 has performed well since its launch on June 5. On the software front, the concurrently released 'Mario Kart World' achieved sales of 9.57 million units (including console bundles); 'Donkey Kong: Banana Blitz,' released in July, also sold 3.49 million units, with both titles showing strong performance."
They also noted, "In addition to playing dedicated games, the Nintendo Switch 2 also supports original Switch titles. Consequently, previously released Switch games such as 'Mario Kart 8 Deluxe' and 'Super Mario Party: Grand Gala' continue to maintain stable sales."

In summary, "Nintendo Switch 2 console sales reached 10.36 million units, with game sales at 20.62 million units. The previous generation Switch console still sold 1.89 million units, with game sales reaching 61.56 million units."

In the financial report, Nintendo further explained: "Driven by these results, revenue reached ¥1.0995 trillion (of which overseas revenue was ¥874.3 billion, accounting for 79.5%), and operating profit was ¥145.1 billion. Including investment gains from equity holdings of ¥44.1 billion, ordinary profit reached ¥236 billion. Furthermore, due to a gain of ¥32.3 billion from the sale of marketable securities, net profit attributable to owners of the parent for the interim period amounted to ¥198.9 billion."

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa stated during an online press conference that the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 was "a very smooth start, even compared to previous generations of consoles," emphasizing that the company will push hard during the year-end shopping season to expand sales both domestically and internationally.
Additionally, Nintendo also released its interim financial results for September 2025, reporting revenue of ¥1.0995 trillion, more than double that of the same period last year, marking the first time in Nintendo's interim financial history that revenue has surpassed the "trillion" yen mark; net profit also surged by 83.1% to ¥198.9 billion, demonstrating exceptionally strong performance.
The company also revised upward its full-year earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2026. Revenue is now projected to reach ¥2.25 trillion (up from the initial forecast of ¥1.9 trillion), marking the first time in Nintendo's history that revenue is expected to surpass the ¥2 trillion mark.

Since the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo's stock price and revenue have been on a steady upward trend. The release of this new console has boosted the confidence of the entire team, and it will be interesting to see what strategies Nintendo employs to keep the momentum going for this console.
