The popular die-cast toy series 'METAL BUILD', released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, has announced that its latest work from 'Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans', the 'Gundam Barbatos (tentative name)', will be fully revealed at 'TAMASHII NATION 2025' on November 14th. A partial design of the mobile suit has also been released in advance.
The ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos is the mobile suit piloted by protagonist Mikazuki Augus in 'Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans'. It was originally one of 72 Gundam Frame mobile suits built 300 years ago during the 'Calamity War' to combat Mobile Armors (MAs). Although its armor has deteriorated after centuries of neglect, the frame's performance remains as good as new, featuring flexible articulation, high mobility, and high versatility, excelling in close-quarters melee combat. When linked with Mikazuki's Alaya-Vijnana System, its reaction capabilities are further enhanced, allowing for intuitive control of the mobile suit's posture directly through the brain, enabling explosive movements and power even under gravity.
The official design for the 'METAL BUILD Gundam Barbatos (tentative name)' has now been revealed, showcasing the detailed Gundam Frame crafted with die-cast materials, the sharp contours of its exterior armor, and the powerful main weapon, the 'Mace', with intricate anti-slip textures carved into its grip. Additionally, accessories will include an original cape and original weapons unique to this model.
