Sony officially announced its first 27-inch PlayStation-branded gaming monitor during this week's State of Play Japan event. Designed to deliver a premium desktop gaming experience for PS5 and PS5 Pro, the monitor boasts QHD resolution, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support, and a high refresh rate. It also features a clever built-in hook that charges your DualSense controller. The monitor is slated for release in Japan and the United States in 2026.
Hideaki Nishino, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC (SIE), stated during the livestream: "Today, we are also announcing a PlayStation gaming monitor designed specifically for gamers, offering vibrant visuals and featuring a built-in hook to charge your DualSense wireless controller."
According to official specifications, the monitor utilizes a 27-inch QHD (2560×1440) IPS panel and supports Auto HDR Tone Mapping. This feature automatically adjusts optimal HDR parameters during the initial setup of a PS5 or PS5 Pro, ensuring vivid colors and natural brightness levels.

The display supports up to a 120Hz refresh rate with VRR on PS5, and an ultra-high 240Hz refresh rate when connected to a PC or Mac, catering to cross-platform users.
Shuzo Kikuchi, Sony's Vice President of Product Management, noted that this display is "tailor-made for PS5 desktop gamers." Beyond its VESA mount compatibility, it includes dual HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, USB Type-A, and Type-C ports, and can be used with a PlayStation Link adapter. Furthermore, it comes equipped with stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack, offering flexible audio output options.
Kikuchi emphasized that the monitor is suitable not only for console players but also for PC gamers, allowing them to enjoy consistent high-quality visuals and low-latency experiences across different platforms. Sony has yet to announce pricing or an exact release date, but confirmed its initial launch in Japan and the US in 2026.
In addition to this monitor, Sony also announced a Japan-exclusive PS5 Digital Edition console during the event, aiming to capture the market with a more competitive price point.
