Japan's GOOD SMILE COMPANY has announced the latest addition to its popular "Nendoroid" figure series from Naoya Matsumoto's manga Kaiju No. 8: "Gen Narumi"! The figure is scheduled for release in May 2026 with a suggested retail price of 7,200 JPY.
The story of Kaiju No. 8 is set in Japan, a country with an extremely high rate of kaiju appearances. The protagonist, "Kafka Hibino," had a lifelong ambition to join the Defense Force and fight kaiju. However, after failing the entrance exam multiple times, he gave up on his dream and, at the age of 32, took a job as a monster sweeper cleaning up kaiju carcasses. One day, a young man named "Reno Ichikawa" joins Kafka's team as his junior. When the two are suddenly attacked by a kaiju, Kafka saves Reno and resolves to try joining the Defense Force once more. Unexpectedly, that same night, Kafka is infiltrated by a mysterious creature and transforms into an incredibly powerful kaiju, who comes to be known by the world as "Kaiju No. 8"...
With a combat power release of 98%, the captain of the Defense Force's 1st Division, and hailed as Japan's strongest anti-kaiju combatant, "Gen Narumi" is now an adorable Nendoroid! Even when reinterpreted in the series' signature chibi proportions, his smug personality and otaku vibe remain fully intact (lol), and of course, so does the coolness he exudes as a captain! This figure stands approximately 10 cm tall and recreates his appearance in his combat suit. It comes with three face plates—a standard face, a smiling face, and a serious face—along with his personal weapon, the "Bayonet," and a Defense Force mask, allowing you to display him in a variety of poses! Create both endearing and cool combat scenes.
