BANDAI SPIRITS’ BANDAI HOBBY division has unveiled the latest entry in its HG (High Grade) robot model kit line: the "HG 1/144 Calvary Temple Royal Guard Division" from the anime "Heavy Metal L-Gaim." Scheduled for release in February 2027, the kit will be sold exclusively through Bandai’s official Premium Bandai online store.
The Calvary Temple is one of the A-Class Heavy Metals in the Temple series developed by Poseidal’s regular army. Its asymmetrical head features a specialized targeting scope over the right eye, while folding laser reflectors concealed in the chest provide protection against laser weapons. Armed with powerful Power Launchers and two large Sabers, the machine excels in close-quarters combat. Nearly every Calvary Temple pilot belongs to Poseidal’s Royal Guard. Aside from Quwasan Olibee’s distinctive orange-yellow custom unit, the machines sport a black color scheme accented with red trim.
The "HG 1/144 Calvary Temple Royal Guard Division" builds on the previously released Olibee custom unit with newly molded red, black, and dark gray parts recreating the Royal Guard configuration. Details such as the signature targeting scope over the right eye, the red edges and undersides of select armor panels, and the green tubing around the knee joints are all separately color-molded, giving the kit an impressive appearance straight out of the box. Its articulation also meets modern HG standards, with flexible joints and multiple moving mechanisms that allow for dynamic poses, including raising a Saber overhead with both hands.
The weapons loadout includes two Power Launchers and two Sabers. The Saber blades are molded in translucent pink, while the Power Launchers can be mounted separately on either forearm. Flexible material is used for the energy cables connecting the weapons to the waist, helping preserve the kit’s articulation when posed in firing stances. The laser reflectors on both sides of the chest can also be deployed.
