The world-renowned Hong Kong toy brand Hot Toys today (19th) announced *that man*! The messenger from hell, "Spider-Man (1978) [Japan]", is now a 1/6 scale collectible figure! It is scheduled to be released on November 21, 2025, at various specialty stores in Hong Kong, with a limited stock of 200 sets available. The suggested retail price is HKD 1,580.
Produced by Japan's Toei Company, the *Spider-Man* tokusatsu series premiered in May 1978. It tells the story of "Professor Monster" and his evil organization, the "Iron Cross Army," attempting to conquer Earth. Young motorcycle racer "Takuya Yamashiro," with the help of "Garia," the last prince of Planet Spider, is injected with spider extract and gains a spider protective suit, becoming the superhero Spider-Man!
In addition to being able to climb walls, cling to ceilings, and use his unique "Spider-Sense" to detect enemies, Toei Spider-Man's coolest features are his weapon-equipped, flying sports car "GP-7" and his giant combat robot "Leopardon (レオパルドン)". Leopardon's "Sword Vigor" move, where it draws a sword from its right leg and throws it, is an incredibly powerful finishing technique! However, this version of Spider-Man has a weakness to cold.
This collectible figure of Toei Spider-Man stands approximately 30 cm tall and features 30 points of articulation throughout its body. It perfectly recreates the classic red and blue form-fitting suit with intricate web patterns, and highly restores the suit's tailoring as worn by the tokusatsu actor. The bracelet on the left hand can also be opened to reveal internal detailing. The figure can strike various stealthy, crouching poses characteristic of Japanese tokusatsu! It looks incredibly nostalgic and fantastic from every angle. Accessories include a rich assortment of interchangeable hands, web-shooting and web-swinging effect parts, and a display base adorned with the "スパイダーマン" (Spider-Man) logo from the *Toei Spider-Man* series! It makes for a truly impressive display.
