Sadie Sink, the 22-year-old actress who rose to prominence with Netflix's "Stranger Things," recently spoke for the first time about her mysterious role in Marvel's upcoming film, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day."

Set photos showing Sink with her natural red hair have ignited a flurry of fan speculation, with many guessing she could portray various iconic red-haired characters from the comics. These theories include Jean Grey, the multiversal shapeshifter Shathra, Punisher ally Rachel Cole-Alves, or even Mayday Parker, the daughter of a multiversal Spider-Man, sparking widespread online discussion.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Sink revealed that these theories began circulating even before her casting was confirmed.
"I remember seeing fans say I was going to play Jean Grey, and I was completely stunned," she recounted. "I didn't even know I was joining the project yet, and people were already guessing who I'd be playing." She laughed, adding that the early speculation left her "completely clueless" at first.

However, when pressed on whether she would indeed play a "red-haired character," Sink offered an intriguing hint: "A lot of people forget that hair color can change." This statement has led fans to speculate that Sink's appearance might be a deliberate misdirection, or that Marvel could digitally alter her hair color in post-production to keep the character's identity under wraps.
Beyond the hair color debate, Sink has frequently been photographed on set enveloped in a massive, long coat, her attire almost entirely concealed. This has further piqued public curiosity about her character's costume.
Addressing the secrecy, Sink revealed, "Tom [Holland] can wave to fans because everyone knows who he is. But if I show my face for a second, I have to be bundled up like a penguin." She joked that the crew would practically wrap her into a ball when she left the set, all in the name of secrecy.

Adding to the intrigue, multiple international outlets have reported that Sink is slated to reappear in 2027's "Avengers: Secret Wars," suggesting her role could be a significant figure in the future of the MCU, rather than a mere cameo or a Spider-Man antagonist.
With Marvel having confirmed that the X-Men will play a pivotal role in the future MCU, many fans still believe Jean Grey remains a highly probable option. Others speculate she could portray Mayday Parker, potentially linking her to a returning Tobey Maguire version of Spider-Man.
Sink concluded by stating, "Everyone will just have to wait and see, and I'm looking forward to these mysteries being unraveled as well," leaving fans with even more to ponder.
