The popular die-cast toy series "METAL BUILD", released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has officially unveiled its latest collaboration product with pop superstar Jay Chou's fashion brand 'PHANTACi', the "PHANTACI STRIKE FREEDOM GUNDAM ver.J". Pre-orders will open on November 28, 2025, at Bandai's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The base for this collaboration product, the "METAL BUILD STRIKE FREEDOM GUNDAM", has been a popular item for TAMASHII NATIONS since its initial release in 2015, undergoing several color variations and continuous updates. Its design has been reinterpreted by a team of designers including Yoichi Sakamoto, Koma, and Hiroyuki Hirose. Compared to the standard mechanical weapon image in the original work, it has been imbued with the image of an angel fighting against a devil (Destiny Gundam) and a holy knight evolving from a knight (Freedom Gundam). The entire body armor and the "Super DRAGOON" mobile weapon wings on its back feature more dynamic and fluid contours, showcasing a powerful heroic stance.
The special 'PHANTACi' collaboration color scheme, consistent with previous collaborative Gundam products, features concepts provided and supervised by Jay Chou himself, with PHANTACi's creative director RIC handling the color design. Most of the mobile suit's armor is presented in an interwoven matte black and piano black, while retaining the original gilded, luxurious frame made of alloy parts, conveying a sense of power and nobility. The eight "Super DRAGOON" mobile weapon wings on the back further incorporate metallic gradient paintwork and transparent materials, creating a visual spectacle reminiscent of city neon lights.
The armament accessories include a display stand designed in black and gold, two "High-Energy Beam Rifles," two "Beam Sabers," and a "Beam Shield Effect" with the same gradient colors as the DRAGOONs. The beam rifles can recreate the long-range rifle mode by connecting the front and rear sections, and the two beam sabers can also be connected at the hilt to form a double-bladed mode. All eight "Super DRAGOON" mobile weapon wings can be individually detached to recreate their firing state, allowing for dynamic combat poses when combined with the highly flexible articulated joints throughout the body.
