Get ready, fans! "The Irregular at Magic High School," based on the popular light novel series and fresh off its third anime season last year, is officially getting a new anime film adaptation for its highly anticipated "Yotsuba Succession Arc." This marks the second movie in the beloved series!
Today (12/27), after more than a year of anticipation, the official announcement dropped: The Irregular at Magic High School The Movie: Yotsuba Succession Arc is hitting theaters on May 8, 2026! They also unveiled the first teaser trailer and a stunning key visual.
The Yotsuba Succession Arc is a pivotal storyline from the original novel, serialized back in May 2015, covering a major event during the second school year. Miyuki Shiba receives an invitation from the main Yotsuba family to attend the "Keishun-kai," a grand gathering where the entire Yotsuba clan convenes. Naturally, this is where the next head of the Yotsuba family will be revealed.
As the most likely candidate for the family head, Miyuki faces a profound dilemma: accepting the position would undoubtedly elevate her brother Tatsuya's status, but it would also mean marrying someone chosen by the family. Returning to the main household, the siblings find themselves caught in an unpredictable turn of events.
Fans familiar with the series probably aren't surprised by this, but turning this arc into a full-fledged movie definitely shows how much the official team values and anticipates this storyline. This marks the second film in the series, following 2017's "The Irregular at Magic High School The Movie: The Girl Who Summons the Stars," making it a highly anticipated event for fans!
