Director Michael Mann's highly anticipated sequel to "Heat," slated to begin filming next year, has reportedly added a new cast member: British actor Stephen Graham (pictured below), known for his supporting roles in major blockbusters such as the "Venom" and "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchises.

According to an exclusive report from Nexus Point News, Graham will take over from Robert De Niro in the original film to portray a younger "Neil McCauley." Graham also previously co-starred with De Niro in "The Irishman."

"Heat 2" is adapted from Mann's prequel/sequel novel, published a few years ago. The plot weaves together two intertwined timelines: one set a day after the events of the first film, following Vincent Hanna's continued pursuit of the fugitive Chris Shiherlis; the other set seven years prior to the original movie, detailing other heists committed by Neil McCauley, Shiherlis, and their crew. In the earlier timeline, Hanna is pursuing a different fugitive, the ultraviolent home invader Otis Wardell. What initially appear to be unrelated experiences ultimately lead to an unexpected, fated collision seven years later.
