Known for his singing, comedic timing, and versatile voice work, Jack Black has carved out a significant niche in animation, lending his talents to beloved characters like Po in the "Kung Fu Panda" franchise and Bowser in "The Super Mario Bros. Movie." However, Black's impressive resume could have included even more iconic animated roles, a fact he himself now laments.

During a recent interview on UK radio station Capital FM while promoting his latest film, Black was asked about the role he most regretted turning down in his career. He candidly admitted, "There was a role I was offered, and I deeply regret saying no. That role was Syndrome in 'The Incredibles,' which is such a brilliant movie, honestly one of my all-time favorites. The reason I turned it down was because at the time I thought, 'Huh? Who's Brad Bird? Never heard of him. And the character you're offering me feels a bit flat. I'm interested, but I'd need to see a rewritten script; can you add some more depth to this character?' And Brad Bird responded, 'You've lost your chance, get out of here.' I learned a valuable lesson because when the movie came out, it was so good, like one of the greatest films ever. Why did I have to be so difficult back then?"
