Takashi Yamazaki's "Godzilla Minus One" (Godzilla -1.0) made waves as the 30th film in the iconic Godzilla series, earning critical acclaim and an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. Last year, during the "Godzilla FES 2025" event, the title for the next installment was finally unveiled: Godzilla -0.0 (ゴジラマイナスゼロ).
Today (January 10) brings official confirmation that "Godzilla -0.0" will hit Japanese theaters on November 3rd, "Godzilla Day," with its North American premiere following shortly after on November 6th. To celebrate these confirmed release dates, the official channels have also dropped a brand-new key visual.
Director Yamazaki is once again taking the helm, serving as director, screenwriter, and VFX supervisor, continuing the creative powerhouse setup from his previous work on "Godzilla Minus One."
November 3rd has long been celebrated by fans as "Godzilla Day," marking the release date of the original "Godzilla" film. Now, 72 years after the debut of the King of the Monsters and three years since the global phenomenon that was "Godzilla Minus One," the 31st Godzilla film, "Godzilla -0.0," promises to deliver an even more astonishing experience for fans.
Notably, "Godzilla -0.0" will open in North America on November 6th, the same week as its Japanese debut. This near-simultaneous Japan-North America release is a first in the long history of Japanese-produced Godzilla films. Official announcements regarding release dates for other regions are expected to follow.
However, beyond the title, the cast and plot details remain shrouded in complete secrecy, with no official information revealed. What exactly does "-0.0" signify? Does it continue the world of "Godzilla Minus One," or does it represent an even deeper rebirth and destruction? For now, it's all a mystery. Godzilla fans can only eagerly await further announcements, hoping to see the King of the Monsters and Director Yamazaki ignite the screen once more.
