Oscar-winning "La La Land" director Damien Chazelle has been developing a prison-themed film for some time. Reports surfaced last May that Daniel Craig and Cillian Murphy were in talks to star. Months later, Deadline exclusively reports today that five-time Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner Michelle Williams is also confirmed to join the cast.

The untitled prison film's plot details remain under wraps, though it's reportedly inspired by 1970s cinema. A release date has not yet been set, but production is confirmed to begin this year. The story is primarily set in a prison and will be a drama with action elements. Justin Hurwitz, the composer behind all of Chazelle's feature films to date, revealed last October that he had already begun scoring the project and praised it as the best script he had ever read.
