The live-action film adaptation of "How to Train Your Dragon," currently in production, recently announced that Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, who voiced Hiccup's mother Valka in the second and third animated films, would return to portray the same character in live-action. Now, another voice actor from the animated series is joining the cast.

Foreign media outlet Deadline reported that Icelandic actor Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, who voiced Ragnar the Rock in the third animated film, is also returning for the live-action adaptation. However, he will not be reprising his original voice role but will instead play the major antagonist, Drago Bludvist.

Ólafsson is now the third actor from the animated "How to Train Your Dragon" series to transition to a live-action role in the film. Gerard Butler, who voiced Valka's husband Stoick in the animated trilogy, was the first animated cast member confirmed to return, playing the same character.

The live-action "How to Train Your Dragon" film is still written and directed by Dean DeBlois, who helmed the animated trilogy. Mason Thames as Hiccup, Nico Parker as Astrid, Julian Dennison as Fishlegs, and Butler are all confirmed to return. The film is slated for a North American release on June 13, 2025.
