Celebrating its 30th anniversary as an animated series this year, the beloved manga franchise "Detective Conan" continues to captivate audiences with its enduring charm. Its 29th theatrical film, "Detective Conan: The Fallen Angel of the Highway," is also set to premiere this year, proving the series' timeless appeal.
Recently, series creator Gosho Aoyama personally designed a new mascot for Tottori University, a national university located in Tottori Prefecture. The university unveiled the mascot's design today (June 3rd) and is now inviting students and staff to submit names for the adorable and intriguing character, which has quickly become a hot topic.

The connection stems from Gosho Aoyama's own roots in Tottori Prefecture. His design for Tottori University's new mascot aims to usher in a fresh era for the institution. Naturally, the mascot's design incorporates the character for "bird" (鳥), which is part of "Tottori," and sports an academic cap adorned with a "T" – the first letter of "Tottori." The art style is unmistakably Gosho Aoyama's signature approach to drawing animals.
The student or staff member whose name submission is chosen will receive a QUO card (gift card) worth 50,000 Japanese Yen.

▼ What's with that katakana sound effect? It's got a real "JoJo" vibe, LOL.
While the naming contest is exclusively open to the university's students and staff, many netizens are eagerly awaiting the results, curious to see whether the chosen name will be whimsical, quirky, or perhaps even reflect the distinctive style of Gosho Aoyama's works.
