When Godzilla Minus One snagged Japan's first-ever "Best Visual Effects" Oscar at the 96th Academy Awards, director Takashi Yamazaki and his team made headlines for rocking a pair of custom "Godzilla shoes" on stage.
Now, the mastermind behind those iconic kicks, designer Ryosuke Matsui (@MatsuiRyosuke), has set the internet ablaze by sharing stunning photos on his X account. He showcased the original "Godzilla shoes" alongside a new pair of "Godzilla boots," all shot right inside a tokusatsu studio, sparking massive buzz among fans.

These viral "Godzilla shoes" are an official collaboration between Japanese fashion brand "ha | za | ma" and the film Godzilla Minus One. Their standout feature? The heels are sculpted to resemble Godzilla's hands or parts of his body, making an undeniable statement.

Beyond the black version worn by director Yamazaki, there's also a white variant. What's truly epic is that these product shots were taken directly on film sets from previous Godzilla series, borrowed straight from Toho's own studios.

And it's not just the shoes! The "Godzilla boots" feature the King of the Monsters' dorsal fins and parts of his body as heels. The photos, taken on set, capture an unhinged power, as if Godzilla himself is tearing through a city.

Matsui revealed the reason for sharing these photos: he'd received DMs from netizens questioning if the "Godzilla shoes" were officially licensed by Toho, apparently unaware it was an official collaboration.
Matsui's response was direct: "Rest assured, everyone." He clarified there were absolutely no copyright issues, then dropped the mic with a bold statement: "We even borrowed film sets from previous Godzilla series directly from Toho's studios to shoot our product photos." He then unveiled the actual studio photos as the ultimate proof.
The post immediately went viral, thrusting the Godzilla shoes back into the spotlight. Netizens flooded the comments: "The vibe is completely different when shot on set," "Not only officially licensed, but shot at Toho's studio? That's insane," "I seriously want a pair."
Ryosuke Matsui frequently shares the unique designs from his fashion brand "ha | za | ma" on social media. It's not just shoes either, so make sure to check out his X account!
