When it comes to light novels, Slayers is an absolute pioneer. While many might be more familiar with the anime and manga adaptations, Hajime Kanzaka's original light novel series was a groundbreaking and astonishing phenomenon back in the day, and it still boasts a massive, devoted fanbase.
To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Slayers light novels, the official team has dropped a brand-new "Spell Chant" ASMR audio experience featuring none other than the protagonist, Lina Inverse! It's currently available for purchase on KADOKAWA's voice drama app, mimicle.
This new release, titled "Slayers ASMR: Sorcerer's Guild Approved Spell Compendium ~Lina's Spell Sleep Learning Material~," is packed with Lina Inverse's powerful spell chants, all voiced by the legendary Megumi Hayashibara. Recorded using binaural microphone technology, pop on your headphones and you'll feel like Lina is right there, whispering incantations directly into your ear. Talk about maximum immersion!
The collection is massive, featuring over 50 different spell voices, including iconic moves like "Dragon Slave," "Ragna Blade," and "Fireball." The official description even calls it "sleep learning material"—imagine drifting off to sleep with Lina's gentle spell chants. Pure auditory bliss!
Plus, this ASMR comes with three listening modes:
Relax Mode: Features full spell chants accompanied by soothing background music.
Ambient Mode: Combines healing BGM with special effects on the spell chants for an even more immersive experience.
Simple Mode: No BGM, no effects—just the raw, individual spell voices.
Whether you want to unwind before bed or simply relive some classic incantations, you can pick your perfect mode.
Fans also had their say in a prior poll for "The Spell You Most Want Lina to Whisper in Your Ear," and the official results are in:
1st Place: Dragon Slave
2nd Place: Giga Slave (Complete Version)
3rd Place: Ragna Blade (Complete Version)
You can check out the full top 20 rankings on the special website.
This marks Slayers' very first ASMR release. Megumi Hayashibara mentioned that while it wasn't her first time recording with a dummy head microphone, she initially felt that "Slayers and ASMR were completely unrelated" and was a bit confused.
She chuckled, recalling how the script was practically a dense list of spells. She worried, "Will this actually be fun to listen to? Won't it be too monotonous?" She even thought Lina herself would probably get bored halfway through recording. Nevertheless, she completed the entire recording, even adding quite a bit of improvisation along the way, and hopes fans will enjoy it.
If you're a fan of Megumi Hayashibara or Slayers, you definitely don't want to miss this rare chance to experience Lina chanting in your ear. Head over to the official website and grab your copy!
