Oscar winner Cillian Murphy recently opened up about his cameo experience in Taylor Swift's music video for "Opalite." The MV, which brings together several renowned artists, sparked fervent discussion among fans for its star-studded, cross-genre collaboration. Murphy's candid remarks during the interview have since been widely described by netizens as "adorable and genuine."
Back in October 2025, Taylor Swift appeared on the British talk show "The Graham Norton Show." Sharing the stage with her were fellow guests Cillian Murphy, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Lewis Capaldi.
In a surprising twist, these very artists, along with host Graham Norton, ultimately made appearances in Swift's "Opalite" music video. The track proved to be a significant success, even climbing to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
During a recent interview with "Entertainment Tonight," Murphy was asked about his involvement in the "Opalite" MV. The host remarked, "We have to celebrate, you were in Taylor Swift's music video 'Opalite,' can you tell us what that experience was like?"
"It was really great," Murphy responded. "We were all sitting on the same couch at the time, and then she reached out to us, and of course, everyone said yes." He expressed his genuine delight at being part of the project, adding, "It's a really sweet, lovely song and video, and I was very happy to be involved."
Murphy's comments came as a pleasant surprise to many of Taylor Swift's fans, with numerous social media users expressing that they never anticipated seeing the "Oppenheimer" actor in a pop music video.
One fan commented, "Cillian Murphy in a Taylor Swift MV was absolutely not on my 2026 bingo card." Another playfully quipped, "He refused to join the MCU, but he's willing to do a Taylor Swift MV, that's hilarious."

Notably, Taylor Swift herself took to Instagram on February 6, 2026, to share the inspiration behind the MV. She recalled, "I remember thinking, I was so lucky to be grouped with this set of people." Swift explained that the idea sparked after Domhnall Gleeson jokingly mentioned wanting to appear in one of her music videos.

"I just thought, why not invite everyone to shoot an MV together? It felt like an adult group project," Swift said.
