Yasuhisa Hara's epic manga "Kingdom" isn't just a hit anime; its live-action film adaptations have been absolutely crushing it! With four successful movies already under its belt, each one has racked up impressive box office numbers and critical acclaim.
Get ready, because the fifth live-action "Kingdom" film, officially titled "Kingdom: Soul of the Battle" (キングダム 魂の決戦), has just been announced for a July 17 release! The official teaser trailer and concept visuals are out, revealing that this installment will tackle the biggest conflict in the series' history: the massive offensive and defensive war of "Qin vs. the Six States."
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the "Kingdom" manga, and the fifth live-action film is kicking off an entirely new chapter! Director Shinsuke Sato is back at the helm, and the main cast is largely returning, including Kento Yamazaki as protagonist Shin, Ryo Yoshizawa as King Ei Sei of Qin, and Kanna Hashimoto as Karyo Ten. Plus, expect some pivotal new characters to join the fray!
At the heart of this new film is the incredibly popular "Coalition Army Arc" from the original manga. We're talking about the six states—Chu, Zhao, Wei, Han, Yan, and Qi—banding together to form a massive Coalition Army, all set to absolutely decimate Qin. Leading this colossal force is the enigmatic and brilliant strategist, Li Mu, played by Shun Oguri!
And if that wasn't enough, prepare for fierce general Man Goku (Yuki Yamada), burning with hatred after Qin annihilated his homeland, to clash in epic battles with our heroes. As this super-war for national survival rages on, Shin will continue his relentless march toward becoming a "Great General."
