Two-time Academy Award winner Sean Penn, who earned Best Supporting Actor at this year's 98th Academy Awards for the revolutionary epic "One Battle After Another," chose to forgo the lavish awards ceremony despite his third prestigious win. A long-time advocate for international human rights, Penn opted instead to fly solo to Ukraine to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whom he had visited multiple times before.

President Zelenskyy later confirmed Penn's visit on X, sharing a photo and expressing gratitude:

Penn had previously entrusted one of his Oscar statuettes to Zelenskyy for safekeeping, with the agreement that he would retrieve it once Ukraine won the war. He even vowed to melt down his Oscar to make bullets if needed to aid in the fight, underscoring his deep concern for the Russia-Ukraine war.
