Michael B. Jordan recently clinched an Academy Award for Best Actor at the Dolby Theatre, sending his career stock soaring. Naturally, his asking price is expected to rise significantly.
Esteemed entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider exclusively reported on his paid blog, "The InSneider," that the day after Jordan secured his Best Actor Oscar, his agent, James Farrell, immediately contacted Universal Pictures to negotiate a substantial salary increase for Jordan's role in the new "Miami Vice" film.

Some fans might be puzzled why Jordan's salary for the new "Miami Vice" film hadn't been finalized, despite his casting being confirmed last year. This was all part of Farrell's strategic gamble: he bet on Jordan winning the Best Actor Oscar, which would give him leverage to demand a higher salary. Farrell's gamble paid off, and he capitalized on the Oscar win to push Universal for a $18 million paycheck.
While no official contract has been signed yet, Universal, keen on fostering a long-term relationship with Jordan, is highly unlikely to refuse.
It's well-known that "Miami Vice" traditionally features a dual-protagonist structure. The other lead for the new iteration, also confirmed last year, is Austin Butler. However, given Butler's comparatively lower star power than Jordan, it's unlikely they will command equal pay, even if their screen time is balanced.
