Today (3/28) marks the first day of Anime Japan 2026, and as expected, a ton of new anime, game, and other exciting announcements are dropping!
Get ready for a dodgeball comeback! Tetsushiro Koshita's classic manga, "Dodge Danpei," is getting a long-awaited sequel anime. Titled "Dodge Danpei Gaiden" (which started serialization in 2022, 17 years after the original!), the show was already announced, but today at Anime Japan 2026, we finally got a premiere date: July 2026! Plus, they dropped the first teaser PV and revealed the voice actors for Ichigeki Danpei and Jin'en Kobutsu.
The main cast had already been announced:
Ichigeki Danuko: Manaka Nakayama (first starring role)
Kobutsu Chinko: Kaori Maeda
Ebisu Mochiko: Akira Sekine
Susan Cannon: You Taichi
Otohata Hanii: Yuu Shinohara
Joining the cast as Danuko and Chinko's fathers are Katsuyuki Konishi as Ichigeki Danpei and Tetsu Inada as Jin'en Kobutsu.
The newly released PV also features a scene where Jin'en Kobutsu's daughter, "Chinko," is called "ちんこ" (a slang term for male genitalia). This particular gag was a hot topic among fans when the anime was first announced, and it looks like the production team isn't shying away from bringing that controversial humor to the screen! LOL.
