After more than three decades in development, "Gremlins 3" was officially slated for a November 19, 2027 release last November. Chris Columbus, who penned the original "Gremlins" and directed the first two "Harry Potter" films, is confirmed to return as director. He will also co-write the screenplay with Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, the directing duo behind "Final Destination: Bloodlines."

With the core creative team now in place, speculation has naturally turned to the cast. Renowned entertainment journalist Daniel Richtman recently revealed on his Patreon page that Warner Bros. Pictures has extended a lead role offer to rising star Jenna Ortega, awaiting her decision.
Ortega's potential involvement comes as little surprise, given her recent track record of starring in successful fantasy-horror revivals of classic IPs. Her impressive resume includes the critically acclaimed "Wednesday" series (a new take on "The Addams Family"), the fifth and sixth installments of "Scream," and the upcoming "Beetlejuice 2"—the latter also a Warner Bros. production. Ortega's consistent success in the horror-fantasy genre makes her a seemingly unbeatable choice, and Warner Bros.' continued interest in her for such projects appears to be a logical move.
Update: Ortega's management team has since denied the rumor.
