"The Invite" is an adaptation of the 2020 Spanish comedy "The People Upstairs" (also known as "Sentimental"). The screenplay was co-written by comedic actress Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, who also co-wrote "Toy Story 4."
The star-studded cast features Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, Edward Norton, and Wilde herself. The story follows a married couple who invite their neighbors over for dinner, an evening that unexpectedly ignites deeply suppressed emotions and unexplored desires. The film is slated for a North American release this July, with specific dates yet to be announced.
