Today marked the final day of CinemaCon, the annual film industry event, where Paramount Pictures and Skydance Media, participating to promote their upcoming slate, delivered a series of major blockbuster announcements.

First, for the previously confirmed "Top Gun 3," it was officially announced today that Tom Cruise has agreed to return in the starring role. Additionally, the hit 2013 zombie film "World War Z" was officially announced to be getting a new project; however, Paramount and Skydance remained tight-lipped on whether it would be a reboot or a sequel.

In previous years, there were indeed plans for a "World War Z" sequel, with producer and star Brad Pitt even bringing in acclaimed director and close friend David Fincher to helm the project. However, it was ultimately halted due to Fincher's high budget demands.

Additionally, Paramount and Skydance also announced today that the live-action "Call of Duty" film, previously confirmed to be directed by Peter Berg ("Lone Survivor") and penned by Taylor Sheridan (writer of the "Sicario" series), is now officially slated for release on June 30, 2028.
