Robert Pattinson returns in the DC sequel "The Batman - Part 2," which had already cast most of its new characters some time ago. However, the role of Christopher Dent, the father of major villain Harvey Dent (Two-Face), has proven difficult to fill.

The production reportedly approached several A-list actors for the part, including Liam Neeson, Brad Pitt, Daniel Craig, Robert De Niro, Viggo Mortensen, and Stellan Skarsgård, all of whom apparently turned down the role.

After an extensive search, the team appears to have found an actor willing to take on the role. According to an exclusive report from Deadline today, Charles Dance is the latest actor in talks for the part. His chances of securing the role are reportedly higher than previous candidates, as Deadline is the first authoritative outlet to report his involvement with an "exclusive" tag, suggesting the deal is highly likely or in its final stages, pending a signature.

Dance is no stranger to playing powerful patriarchs, famously portraying Tywin Lannister in "Game of Thrones."

Christopher's role is expected to be pivotal, as he is a key figure in the comics who shaped his son's future personality. Suffering from dissociative identity disorder, Christopher's volatile moods often led to abuse against young Harvey, leaving indelible trauma. As an adult, Harvey also developed dissociative identity disorder, ultimately leading to his transformation into Two-Face.

Previously confirmed new cast members for "The Batman - Part 2" include Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent. Returning cast members include Barry Keoghan as The Joker, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. The film is slated for a North American release on October 1 next year.
