Back in February, independent studio A24 secured the rights to the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" franchise, outbidding several competitors. The company immediately began developing a new film and a new series, both of which already had early concepts. Rising star Glen Powell is attached to produce both projects. Just two months later, A24 has quickly found a director to helm the new reboot film.

Variety exclusively reported that up-and-coming horror director Curry Barker is set to take the reins of the new "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" film. Details on how he plans to reimagine the story are currently under wraps. Barker, an actor turned filmmaker, has only two feature films to his credit. However, his latest, "Obsession," has garnered significant acclaim at various film festivals recently.

As for the new series, JT Mollner, director of "Strange Darling," was previously announced to direct.
