Japanese toy company Kotobukiya, in collaboration with the hugely popular virtual singer Hatsune Miku, has announced the latest addition to their Frame Music Girl plastic model kit series: "GRAND SCALE Hatsune Miku," slated for release in September 2026.
Released in 2018, the original "Frame Music Girl Hatsune Miku" plastic model kit was a project conceived by hobby magazine "Hobby Japan," with Fumikane Shimada handling character design and Takayuki Yanase responsible for mechanical design. This fresh take on the electronic diva, Hatsune Miku, perfectly blends transparent cuteness with a costume design rich in mechanical elements. The model kit also inherits the design philosophy of Kotobukiya's "Frame Arms Girl" series, featuring a highly articulated body, interchangeable face parts, and multiple 3mm connection points. This allows collectors to not only pose the basic figure but also easily expand its armaments or customize it.
This new release, "Frame Music Girl GRAND SCALE Hatsune Miku," is redesigned based on the CAD model files used for the standard version. Not only is the size scaled up to a 1/6 proportion, standing approximately 25 cm (9.8 inches) tall, but some parts also feature new separation and color molding. The molded colors are closer to the character's original design, making painting easier. Three pre-painted face parts – a "singing face," a "left-gazing normal face," and a "right-gazing normal face" – are included, allowing collectors to appreciate the intricate brushwork of her pupils and adorable blush in high detail.
However, the two speaker units included with the standard version are not part of this accessory set. Instead, it comes with a "microphone" shaped like a leek, a black "microphone stand," five pairs of PVC interchangeable hands with various poses, and 5mm to 3mm joint parts. Furthermore, the body's proportions are similar to common 1/6 scale doll products on the market, allowing for customization with separately sold fabric clothing and weapon parts of the same scale.
