The critically acclaimed Marvel series "Daredevil: Born Again" Season 2 has reached its season finale this week, but star Charlie Cox is still on the promotional circuit. During a recent interview on the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast, Cox revealed a previously undisclosed production secret.

Longtime viewers of American television series might know that it's not uncommon for lead actors to direct an episode or two. However, "Daredevil: Born Again" had a different plan, aiming to bring in an MCU actor from outside the main cast to direct.

Cox revealed on the show that while they were still making Season 1, before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the first season was originally planned for 18 episodes, and Tom Hiddleston was slated to direct one of them. He mentioned that it was a significant loss when the latter half of the originally planned 18-episode first season was cut, even though the subsequent changes were necessary and ultimately improved the show. Cox recalled that Hiddleston was supposed to direct Episode 12, and they had already been discussing ideas over the phone, which he felt would have been a great experience.

Cox and Tom Hiddleston are already good friends; they've even famously dressed up as each other's Marvel characters for Halloween, much to the delight of fans. During Cox's recent interview, Hiddleston recorded a special congratulatory video, which the host played as a surprise for Cox. While their collaboration on "Born Again" Season 1 didn't materialize, there's always a chance for future seasons.
