“The Boys” Predicts Reality Again? Homelander’s Golden Statue Coincides with Trump’s, Sparking Debate

Prime Video's hit superhero series "The Boys" is once again sparking fan discussions after its latest season's plot points eerily aligned with real-world events.

The latest controversy stems from Season 5, Episode 6, "Though the Heavens Fall," which featured a golden statue of the villainous Homelander. Shortly after the episode aired, a real-life golden statue of former U.S. President Donald Trump appeared, leading many viewers to claim the show had "predicted" reality once more.

Earlier this week, a video circulating online, reportedly filmed at the Trump National Doral Golf Club, showcased a towering 15-foot golden statue of Trump. Given the recent "The Boys" episode featured a strikingly similar scenario, fans quickly drew comparisons. Critics shared their thoughts online:

"The Boys" Season 5 continues to push Homelander's power fantasies to the extreme, with his ambitions this season escalating from political manipulation and personal idolatry to a near-divine status. Even before the broadcast of Episode 3, "Every One of You Sons of Bitches," the show's plot coincidentally mirrored Trump's release of AI-generated images depicting himself in a god-like form. For the creative team, the series initially aimed to satirize real-world politics and celebrity worship through exaggerated scenarios, but reality has repeatedly caught up to, and even collided with, the fictional storylines.

Showrunner Eric Kripke has previously admitted that the similarities between Prime Video's Homelander and Trump are not entirely coincidental.

However, as real-world events continue to echo the show's narrative, Kripke acknowledged that it's becoming increasingly difficult to out-satirize reality. He previously discussed Episode 3, noting that Homelander's decision to declare himself a god was already an extreme plot point, yet just 48 hours before the episode aired, Trump released similar deified images. Kripke remarked that "it's really hard to satirize the world when reality itself is so hard to outdo."

In response to the golden statue incident, Kripke also shared an image on Instagram , captioned: "Seriously, what the hell?" This brief remark perfectly encapsulated the bewilderment shared by both the show's creators and its audience regarding the uncanny coincidence.
