Vin Diesel, the patriarch of "The Fast Saga" franchise and its lead star and producer, made a surprise announcement today at an NBCUniversal upfront presentation hosted by Jimmy Fallon: four new live-action "Fast & Furious" spin-off series are currently in development. These upcoming series are slated to stream exclusively on NBCUniversal's Peacock platform, with international distribution rights potentially available to other platforms.

This isn't the first time the "Fast & Furious" universe has expanded into television. Universal previously collaborated with Netflix on the animated series "Fast & Furious: Spy Racers," which centered on Dom Toretto's cousin, Tony Toretto, as he worked undercover for the government. "Spy Racers" ran for six seasons, concluding in 2021.
Diesel did not disclose which characters these new series would focus on, nor were any plot summaries revealed. However, speculation suggests they could be related to a female-led spin-off that Universal has long intended to produce. Variety magazine also reported that while Diesel announced four series are in development, only one is currently making significant progress, with the other three remaining in various earlier stages of development.
