Prime Video's hit series "The Boys" officially wrapped its run on May 20, 2026, with its final episode, "Blood and Bone." The finale, which saw Homelander stripped of his powers and pleading for mercy, quickly drew public criticism from Elon Musk.

Musk took to X (formerly Twitter) to label the ending "pathetic," a sentiment that showrunner Eric Kripke, surprisingly, embraced as a compliment.

Following Musk's criticism, Kripke retweeted the post. He noted that this response perfectly aligns with the series' long-standing creative direction of satirizing politics and celebrity worship through its superhero narrative.

The final episode also introduced a billionaire character named "The Disruptor," depicted as obsessed with space and white birth rates, and sporting a black baseball cap with black embroidery. This character was widely interpreted as a clear allusion to Musk and the "Dark MAGA" aesthetic. In the show, Homelander takes The Disruptor into space, kills him, and upon returning to Earth, coldly states, "He was an astronaut. I took him to space."

When "Deadline" pressed Kripke on whether the character was a jab at Musk, the showrunner initially deflected, asking, "Why would you think that was Elon Musk?"

Kripke further explained that characters like "The Disruptor" were discussed throughout the season's production. He noted that such figures exist in the real world and are "perfect targets for satire," but the team hadn't found a suitable place for the character in the storyline until the finale. The final scene, he added, provided the ideal moment to incorporate The Disruptor and highlight Homelander's psychological state.

"It was just a small, brief scene, but it was also one last satirical target before the series ended," Kripke concluded.
