"Neon Genesis Evangelion ANIMA" is an official spin-off novel series created by Takuma Kageyama and Ikuto Yamashita. Diverging from the conclusion of Episode 24 of the TV anime "Neon Genesis Evangelion," it explores an "if" storyline set three years after the Human Instrumentality Project was not activated. The series significantly alters many original settings, depicting 17-year-old Shinji Ikari, Asuka Langley Soryu, and Rei Ayanami continuing to pilot new EVA units to prevent the Human Instrumentality Project from being re-initiated.
Standing approximately 285mm tall, the main body features a multi-layered paint application, showcasing various shades of red with intricate metallic accents and tampo-printed markings. Key stress-bearing joints, thigh roots, and feet are constructed from robust metal. The meticulously designed articulation throughout the figure allows for dynamic posing, replicating any action from the series.
For weaponry, the Lance of Longinus, finished with a vibrant metallic red coating, boasts an impressive length of 52cm. The Wireless Power Rectifier Antenna, mounted on its back, measures approximately 30cm, faithfully recreating its massive antennae and cables. A colossal "Weapon Rack" can be mounted on its back, capable of storing various handheld armaments. These weapons include an Emergency Shield, N2 Bombs & Storage Case, the new POWERD8 Electromagnetic Rifle, a POWERD8 Light Machine Gun, and two dedicated High-Vibration Particle Blades.
Additional accessories include parts to assist in mounting various weapons onto the main body, auxiliary support stands, and a dedicated display base. Even the Wireless Power Rectifier Antenna comes with its own stand, ensuring the Evangelion Unit-02 Type II remains stable when displayed with its extensive array of large weapons.
The construction and design are incredibly impressive! The joint design and assembly are outstanding, allowing for full articulation to replicate any pose from the series. Furthermore, Ikuto Yamashita's avant-garde designs for "ANIMA" have always been a personal favorite, and CCSTOYS has magnificently reproduced such complex color combinations with a stunning metallic finish. Crucially, the quality control is genuinely excellent! When posing, simply pay attention to the range and direction of the joints, as the metal joints are finely tuned, on par with those found in Metal Build figures. The product's quality absolutely justifies its price (around HK$1750).
The weapon loadout is incredibly rich, with the highlight being the captivating playability of the POWERD8 rifle, ensuring exceptionally high re-play value. When fully armed, the figure truly looks unparalleled... The only area for improvement lies in the ankle joint design; its ground contact is merely average, but that's the sole minor drawback!
