Shang-Chi 2 Reportedly Stalled, But the Hero May Crossover into 'Wonder Man' Season 2

When Marvel Studios' first Asian-led superhero film, "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," debuted five years ago, it achieved impressive results. Audience reception was largely positive, and its box office gross of over $400 million prompted Marvel to quickly greenlight a sequel, with original director Destin Daniel Cretton (pictured below) set to return.

However, in the five years since, Cretton's schedule has become incredibly busy. He has served as a producer on the Disney+ series "American Born Chinese" and "Wonder Man," and was also previously attached to direct a major "Avengers" film, leaving him with little time to focus on preparing the "Shang-Chi" sequel.

Yet, Marvel doesn't appear to be in a hurry to replace Cretton on "Shang-Chi 2." According to a report from the well-known Marvel scoop site *The Cosmic Circus*, the studio has temporarily paused development on the film. This doesn't mean Marvel has no future plans for the character, however. In addition to his confirmed return in this year's "Avengers: Doomsday," *The Cosmic Circus* also reports that Shang-Chi could potentially make a guest appearance in the second season of "Wonder Man."

With Cretton being a key creative force behind both "Shang-Chi 2" and "Wonder Man," this connection is likely the reason for arranging a potential crossover. If it happens, Marvel fans would surely welcome the move, as it would give them a chance to see Shang-Chi reunite with Trevor Slattery on screen.
