Sony Yanks Leaked 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Trailer, Seemingly Confirming Hulk Plot Spoilers

Sony Pictures is once again dealing with a major leak, this time for the rumored "Spider-Man: Brand New Day". According to reports, the film's second trailer surfaced on YouTube and social media in low-quality audio and video formats ahead of its official debut. While the leaked footage is blurry and pixelated, fans have managed to piece together numerous new details. Sony has since begun issuing copyright takedown notices, a move widely seen as indirect confirmation of the trailer's authenticity.

The leaked trailer, running approximately two minutes and twenty seconds, heavily features the interaction between Tom Holland's Peter Parker and Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner.

In one scene, Peter asks, "Dr. Banner, you found a way to inhibit mutant DNA, right?" Banner responds, "If you ever see me without this, run!" This has led to speculation that the device mentioned is an inhibitor designed to suppress his Hulk transformation, which may be destroyed during the film, paving the way for the Hulk's official return.

In fact, a recent toy leak seems to corroborate this theory. According to a product description for a Bandai S.H.Figuarts action figure, Bruce Banner has been using an inhibitor to maintain his human form since the events of "Avengers: Endgame," but this device will reach its limit in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day." The description notes that the film will mark the return of the Hulk in a "savage form," a departure from the "Smart Hulk" seen in recent films.

This implies that when Banner loses control, he may not revert to the familiar, rational Hulk, but to a more ferocious and uncontrollable primal state. This detail aligns perfectly with Banner's warning to Peter in the leaked trailer, suggesting the inhibitor's failure is the catalyst for the Hulk's return to the battlefield.

The trailer also hints at Peter's central conflict, which appears to revolve around mutation, control, and physical changes. Peter later asks, "Theoretically, could you remove the bad parts but keep the good ones?" Banner retorts, "How do you decide which parts of nature are good and which are bad?" This exchange has led many fans to believe the film will connect the abilities and mutations of Spider-Man and the Hulk to some unknown threat.

The toy description further mentions that both Banner and Peter Parker are facing "uncontrollable transformations," setting up a narrative parallel between the two characters. This has fueled speculation that Peter himself might experience a physical mutation in the film, possibly referencing the multi-armed Man-Spider from the comics.

Additionally, the trailer features more scenes of Peter interacting with MJ and Ned. Following the events of "Spider-Man: No Way Home," where they both forgot his true identity, the awkward dynamic between the three is set to continue. Another sequence appears to show a character threatening Peter's ex-girlfriend, with speculation pointing towards the villain Boomerang.

The trailer also includes a line of dialogue, seemingly from a Department of Damage Control official, stating, "We're facing an uncontrollable threat, one we can't even see." The character adds, "You're the only one immune to it. You're the only one who can feel it." This has sparked fan theories that Peter will be recruited to combat a new character played by Sadie Sink, who is rumored to possess mind-control abilities.

"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is reportedly slated for a July 31, 2026 release. Following the leak, Sony is now expected to officially release the trailer in the near future.
