From BANDAI SPIRITS' Hobby Division comes the latest entry in the "MG (Master Grade)" 1/100 scale Gunpla line, celebrated for its outstanding parts separation, detailed inner frames, and incredible articulation. Straight from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY," the "Blaze ZAKU Phantom (Heine Westenfluss Custom)" is scheduled for a September 2026 release, exclusively through the official Premium Bandai online store.
The ZGMF-1000 ZAKU Warrior series was ZAFT's primary mass-produced mobile suit in C.E. 73. Although restricted to battery power by the Junius Treaty, it boasted exceptional performance. Its versatility was greatly enhanced by the "Wizard System," allowing it to adapt to various combat situations by swapping out backpack modules and armaments like the Blaze, Gunner, and Slash packs. A high-performance variant, the "ZGMF-1001 ZAKU Phantom," was developed for commanders and ace pilots. One such pilot was Heine Westenfluss, a character voiced by the famous singer Takanori Nishikawa, whose mobile suit sports a signature orange color scheme favored by the artist himself.
The "MG 1/100 Blaze ZAKU Phantom (Heine Westenfluss Custom)" is based on a previous standard release, now updated with new molding colors to faithfully recreate Heine's distinctive orange livery. It also includes a newly designed set of waterslide decals to apply Heine's personal markings and other insignia. The kit utilizes the simplified "ZAFT Frame" design; while not as complex as some earlier MG inner frames, it offers rich external armor detail and excellent overall articulation. The power pipes feature a ball-joint system, allowing them to move in conjunction with the leg movements.
The armament loadout is essentially identical to the previous standard release. The massive Blaze Wizard backpack features large thrusters with an opening/closing gimmick, as well as an MG-original missile pod deployment mechanism. Included accessories are the dual shoulder shields, a Beam Assault Rifle, and a Beam Tomahawk. The kit also fully supports the "Wizard System," allowing builders to swap backpacks and weapons with other separately sold MG 1/100 ZAKU Phantom/ZAKU Warrior kits.
