The low-budget horror film "M3GAN," which grossed over $180 million worldwide, saw its sequel, "M3GAN 2.0," released last year, fail to replicate the original's box office success. The follow-up unexpectedly bombed, accumulating less than $40 million globally. This drastic decline impacted the already-completed spinoff "Soulm8te," forcing it to abandon its theatrical release plans and head straight to streaming. Now, more than a year after the sequel, "Soulm8te" has finally dropped its first trailer.

"Soulm8te" is directed by Kate Dolan, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Rafael Jordan, known for "Copperhead." The cast features "The Boys" star Claudia Doumit and "Evil Dead Rise" actress Lily Sullivan, among others. The film is set to be available for digital rental and purchase in North America on August 1.

"Soulm8te" follows an engineer, still grappling with the loss of his wife, who is tasked by a ruthless tech company to test their new AI companion. As he attempts to program it into a truly sentient partner, he inadvertently causes the AI companion to develop its own desires, unleashing a series of chaotic events.
