BANDAI SPIRITS' TAMASHII NATIONS collectors' division has announced the latest addition to its popular "S.H.Figuarts" action figure line: "Shin Hayata" from the tokusatsu series "Ultraman," slated for release in February 2027.
Portrayed by Japanese actor Susumu Kurobe in the series, the protagonist Shin Hayata was an elite member of the Science Patrol, graduating at the top of his class from their training academy. During a flight patrol mission, he was tragically caught in a pursuit between Ultraman and a monster and died. Feeling remorseful, Ultraman merged his life force with Hayata's body. From then on, Hayata secretly operated as "Officer Hayata" within the Science Patrol, and whenever humanity faced insurmountable threats from monsters or aliens, he would discreetly use the "Beta Capsule" to transform into his original form as the Giant of Light, protecting Earth's peace.
As a commemorative item for the 60th anniversary of "Ultraman," the "S.H.Figuarts Shin Hayata" has been thoroughly supervised by Tsuburaya Productions' LSS modeling department. It leverages TAMASHII NATIONS' digital coloring technology to accurately capture the facial features of Susumu Kurobe from his original portrayal. The figure meticulously recreates his overall physique, the Science Patrol's orange-toned uniform, the meteor emblem, and his tie. Furthermore, the head sculpt offers two options: with or without the helmet.
The figure also boasts precise articulation splits and a wide range of movable joints throughout its body. Notably, the chest and tie sections are crafted from soft plastic to minimize articulation interference, allowing for highly dynamic poses without revealing unsightly gaps. Accessories include four left and five right interchangeable hand parts, the Science Patrol's compact ray gun "SUPER GUN" with its holster, the "Beta Capsule" transformation device for Ultraman, and even a "spoon." This allows collectors to recreate the iconic scene from Episode 34 where Hayata, flustered after finishing curry, mistakenly attempts to transform with a spoon.
