Japanese toy company Sentinel (株式会社千値練) is once again collaborating with renowned Japanese illustrator NakaoTeppei (ナカオテッペイ) to release the highly anticipated fourth installment of the "SUSHI-L.A. Real Sushi Size Figure Collection 4"! This collection features 8 standard figures plus 2 secret variants and is slated for release in December 2026.
The lore of SUSHI-L.A. begins in a Los Angeles sushi restaurant, where a "super-sized sushi with extra wasabi" was being prepared. The excessive wasabi caused the sushi to mutate, giving birth to the "Sushi Monster – SUSHI-L.A." (スシエルエー), complete with eyes, hands, and feet. As these creatures walk, grains of rice fall from their bodies. After 100 steps, their legs disappear, and upon "death," they revert to being just an ordinary large sushi.
The sushi topping covering their heads and backs is removable, and depending on the topping, SUSHI-L.A.'s personality changes. If regular sushi is splashed with their weapon, "wasabi liquid," it gains new life and becomes a "Sushi Monster" itself. However, if a SUSHI-L.A. moves too violently, the "wasabi liquid" will begin to flow from its head and spread throughout its body, ultimately leading to its demise.
*Note: The original name is SUSHI-L.A. (Japanese: スシエルエー; Chinese pronunciation: Sushi L.A.). However, because many classic Japanese monster names often end with "ra" (like "Godzilla"), and its appearance resembles Godzilla, the Chinese translation adopted "Sushi-ra" to convey this meaning.
The fourth series marks the debut of glow-in-the-dark figures! The "Sushi Monster SUSHI-L.A. Real Sushi Size Figure Collection 4" presents two distinct expressions: extreme joy and profound sadness. Continuing the series' signature style, these figures are crafted in 1/1 scale (real sushi size), standing approximately 7 cm tall. When displayed on a sushi plate (sold separately), they perfectly blend in, concealing their true SUSHI-L.A. identity! The collection includes HAPPY SMILE variants: Fresh Tuna, Botan Shrimp, Tamagoyaki (Egg Omelet), Golden Eye Snapper, and Fresh Octopus. The DEEP SADNESS variants feature: Tamagoyaki, Golden Eye Snapper, and Fresh Octopus. The glow-in-the-dark secret versions include a Tuna and a Shrimp variant. The realistic sculpting and paintwork make them look both adorable and delicious!
Additionally, a special release commemorative event will be held! Collectors who gather all 10 types will be entered into a lottery for a chance to win a Sofubi version of SUSHI-L.A.!
