Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently traveled to Shanghai, China, to promote the upcoming "Spider-Man 4" film. While there, he fielded numerous questions from the media regarding the future development of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Feige revealed that the current storyline progression and release schedule for the entire MCU are already mapped out until at least 2042.
Feige stated, "We were just in a Marvel Studios retreat talking about films that will take us to 2042. Whether Marvel will last until 2042, who knows? Will all those films be made? Who knows? But that's how we go about building and planning for the vast amount of storylines in the Marvel Comics."

Feige elaborated, "We're always changing, always evolving, but it's always better to have a bit of a roadmap to get us to a purposeful place. Especially with the X-Men — there have been 10 movies, some of them very good, some of them I don't think delivered on the promise. How do we then set up the epic saga of the mutants in a very big way?"
Additionally, Feige teased that "Avengers 6: Secret Wars" will mark a new beginning. "It will establish a streamlined, easy-to-follow, and unified universe for audiences to track," he predicted. "Some elements will be familiar, but many things will be entirely new."
