Back in 2003, "The Fate of the Furious" director F. Gary Gray assembled an all-star Hollywood cast for a new take on the 1969 crime classic "The Italian Job". The remake garnered solid reviews and performed respectably at the box office, earning $176 million worldwide against a $60 million production budget. Plans for a sequel, tentatively titled "The Brazilian Job," were in motion, with a release initially slated for late 2005 or summer 2007, but the project languished in development for years.

Now, 23 years later, the long-dormant "The Brazilian Job" sequel appears to be back on track. According to an exclusive report from Deadline this morning, Paramount Skydance is currently in negotiations with director Paul Feig regarding the possibility of helming "The Italian Job 2." The studio is also reportedly searching for a screenwriter. However, Deadline did not specify whether Paramount Skydance intends to utilize the previously developed script concepts for "The Brazilian Job."
The original 2003 film boasted an impressive ensemble cast, including Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Edward Norton, Donald Sutherland, Jason Statham, and Seth Green. It remains uncertain how many of these stars would return for the upcoming sequel.
