David Hasselhoff, forever beloved as Michael Knight on "Knight Rider," also ruled television in his younger days with another signature series: "Baywatch." Decades later, the beachside classic is getting a "soft" reboot as a same-name sequel series. The new show is set to premiere in January 2027, and FOX has now dropped the official trailer.

"Arrow" star Stephen Amell leads the new chapter, but he is not playing an original character. Amell stars as an adult Hobie Buchannon, the young supporting character from the original series and the son of Hasselhoff’s Mitch Buchannon.

According to the official synopsis, Hobie has followed in his father’s footsteps and is now captain of Baywatch, enjoying a stable career. His life is suddenly turned upside down when Charlie, the daughter he never knew he had, appears on his doorstep. Charlie is equally determined to carry on the Buchannon family legacy by becoming a Baywatch lifeguard alongside her father.

Joining Amell are Jessica Belkin as Charlie Vale and a new generation of cast members playing the latest additions to the lifeguard team, including Hassie Harrison, Livvy Dunne, Thaddeus LaGrone and Brooks Nader.
