Mike Flanagan, director of "The Haunting of Hill House" and showrunner of the new "Carrie" series, has scored strong reviews and viewership since the show debuted on Prime Video. Amazon is clearly pleased with the response, announcing earlier today that it has officially renewed the series for a second season, which will build on the lingering mysteries left by the Season 1 finale.

Although "Carrie" is based on a single novel, Flanagan revealed before the series premiered that he hopes to expand the story across three seasons. “Three seasons feels perfect to me. In my dream scenario, I think "Carrie" has a terrific three-act arc. It’s really a trilogy.” Rather than simply stretching one novel across three seasons, Flanagan rewrote the ending to take the story beyond the source material. Fans will have to wait for Season 2 to see where he takes it next.
