"The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Lady’s Treasure" Drops Full Trailer, Kenshi Yonezu Performs Theme Song "Haru ga Tomori"

The light novel adaptation The Apothecary Diaries made waves when its anime premiered in late 2023. Its runaway popularity sent sales of the novels and manga soaring, while the first cour of Season 3 kicked off this October. Now, the franchise’s first feature film, The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Lady’s Treasure, is set to open in Japan on December 11, 2026.

On October 22, the official team unveiled a new key visual bringing together the film’s central cast, along with its full trailer. It also announced that Kenshi Yonezu will perform the theme song, “Haru ga Tomori.” The first theatrical admission bonus will be a deluxe booklet featuring a brand-new short story by original creator Natsu Hyuuga, interviews with the voice cast, and more.

The new key visual features a battered and bruised Maomao alongside Mu Qing, both of whom appear at the end of the trailer, while a resolute Jinshi stands ready with a sword in hand. Familiar faces including Gaoshun and Lakan also join the lineup. Elsewhere, Ruòqíng and Yinshan appear deep in prayer, while the Kaja-dan lurks behind the scenes.

The visual carries the tagline, “The hidden truth. The final wish.” With the film’s cast assembled against a vivid, dramatic backdrop, the new artwork promises plenty of tension ahead.

The film tells an entirely original story conceived by Natsu Hyuuga, weaving together two central mysteries—“the secret of the remains” and “the hidden treasure”—to create the franchise’s biggest mystery yet.

The story follows Maomao and Jinshi as they journey south to return the remains of a consort who died in the rear palace five years earlier to her homeland. What truths will they uncover along the way? The mystery surrounding Ruòqíng’s remains and the Bi clan’s hidden past will gradually come to light on the big screen.

Kenshi Yonezu explained that he created “Haru ga Tomori” after speaking with original creator Natsu Hyuuga and director Norihiro Naganuma. He shared the following statement:

“While writing the song, I carefully read through the script I had received and drew inspiration from children’s songs. In particular, ‘Tulip’ and ‘Antagata Doko Sa’ had a major influence on me. I thought about the legacies that form between people and where they ultimately lead. I don’t believe those bonds necessarily need someone else’s approval or a formal process to exist. Instead, each person naturally finds where they belong in their own way and makes that choice for themselves. The song is called ‘Haru ga Tomori.’ I hope you enjoy it.”

The newly released full trailer also offers a preview of “Haru ga Tomori.”

The first theatrical admission bonus has also been revealed: a deluxe booklet containing a brand-new short story by Natsu Hyuuga, voice cast interviews, character design materials, and more. A limited run of 1.5 million copies will be distributed at theaters across Japan.

With Season 3 currently airing and the franchise’s first feature film just around the corner, The Apothecary Diaries fans have plenty to look forward to—especially with the movie delivering a completely original story. The film is also scheduled to open in Taiwan on January 29, 2027.
