Japanese model kit maker Kotobukiya and illustrator Morikura En’s slice-of-life bishoujo plastic model kit series, "Sousai Shojo Teien," is expanding with its latest release, "KUON YAKUSHIJI [CHINESE COSTUME]," scheduled to launch in April 2027.
Kuon Yakushiji is a third-year student at Touou High School. While she may be a slightly scatterbrained young lady in everyday life, she transforms into a gifted actress capable of delivering remarkable performances as soon as the cameras start rolling. Unfortunately, her constant focus on acting, extremely laid-back personality, and poor communication skills often cause her to fail auditions. After discovering acting through an extracurricular activity, the sheltered daughter of a prestigious family gained the chance to experience all kinds of lives through her roles. Her best-known performance is Maria Kagaribi, the heroine of the hit tokusatsu series "MEGALOMARIA UNLIMITED UNIVERSE."
"KUON YAKUSHIJI [CHINESE COSTUME]" uses all-new sculpting to recreate a scene in which Maria Kagaribi infiltrates a Chinese restaurant and struggles to maintain her cover as an inexperienced waitress. Her outfit is a dangerously short black qipao that looks ready to reveal more than intended at the slightest mistake. Dark-gray molded parts and patterned decals capture the look of thin, skin-tight fabric while fully showcasing her curvaceous figure. Three interchangeable hip sections are included, depicting the hem hanging naturally, fluttering slightly, or arranged for a leg-baring, cross-legged seated pose!
Her distinctive braided double-bun hairstyle is also made entirely from newly sculpted parts. Along with sharply rendered, dimensional strands of hair, the base of each braid features an articulated joint to prevent parts from interfering with one another. Three interchangeable pre-painted faces are included: mischievous, smiling, and embarrassed. The kit also comes with three unpainted face parts and water-slide decals featuring multiple expressions, allowing builders to create custom expressions and eye directions.
The base body continues the Sousai Shojo Teien line’s focus on extensive articulation. The arms and legs can be combined with six pairs of sculpted hands to create expressive action poses, while the joint structure running from the chest to the waist allows for deep forward bends and back arches. Combined with articulation at the base of the neck and double-jointed elbows, the kit can pull off everything from kicks and jumps to prone poses—all while keeping Kuon looking equal parts cute and sexy. Accessories include a handheld bamboo steamer and three steamed buns, perfect for recreating her adorably awkward performance as a novice waitress.
