THE GUNDAM BASE HONG KONG, the official Gunpla flagship store for "Mobile Suit Gundam," will celebrate its first anniversary with an exhibition and limited-time pop-up shop running from November 21, 2026, through January 10, 2027. The event will also introduce a new exclusive from "Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam": the HG 1/144 THE GUNDAM BASE LIMITED PSYCHO GUNDAM [SPECIAL COATING]. Its box art has now been revealed, while pricing and an exact release date will be announced later.
The MRX-009 Psycho Gundam was the Earth Federation Forces' first transformable mobile armor developed for Newtypes by the Murasame Newtype Lab. Despite its colossal size, the machine can transform into MS mode. Its Psycommu system controls the numerous mega particle cannons positioned across its body, while an I-field generator provides full-body protection. Piloted by the Cyber-Newtype Four Murasame, the Psycho Gundam made its debut in Episode 17, rampaging through downtown New Hong Kong with enough firepower to set the entire city ablaze single-handedly.
The HG 1/144 THE GUNDAM BASE LIMITED PSYCHO GUNDAM [SPECIAL COATING] was displayed at THE GUNDAM BASE HONG KONG this past July. The kit retains the tooling of the standard version released in 2004, but looks even more metallic than last year's Base-exclusive HG 1/144 Psycho Gundam [Metallic Gloss Injection]. The original black armor has been replaced with a dark gray, near-plated finish that produces a subtle reflective sheen. Its newly unveiled box art uses a vertical composition depicting the Psycho Gundam facing off against the Gundam Mk-II during the Battle of New Hong Kong, complete with Chinese storefront signs in the background—a wickedly tongue-in-cheek choice for a Hong Kong flagship-store exclusive. Placing the Mk-II alongside it makes the Psycho Gundam's already outrageous proportions look even more imposing, perfectly capturing the overwhelming presence of this terrifying one-unit fortress. The HG Gundam Zero displayed in the same case also offers a striking sense of just how enormous the finished kit will be.
